Shame shrouds her spirit. Skeletal skin enslaves her shine.
Shadow steals her light and she becomes night.
Her silent sacrifice.
"Dark I am, yet lovely... Do not stare at me because I am dark... tell me, you whom I love... why should I be like a veiled woman beside the flocks of your friends?"
Song of Solomon 1:5-7
Youth, youth deceived and disfigured by battered promises. The lavender light which enchanted her with once-upons now sears her hopes.
Youth, youth lured and captured by the dream language of storytelling. With awkward abandon, she immersed her face and soul in the sugar-coated promises of lavender's light.
“I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.... With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.
My son, do not let wisdom and understanding
out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck."
Proverbs 8:12 and 3:21-22

"Therefore pride is their necklace...." Psalm 73: 3, 6
We recognize wisdom/folly as a contrasting pair, similar to love/hate. But as we dig deeper, apathy, rather than hate, is a stronger opposition to love. Likewise, rather than folly, perhaps pride opposes wisdom. Pride keeps us from embracing constructive instruction. In vain, we clutch pride with oily hands, and find that the wealth of the
wise slips through our fingers.
